SYDNEY INSTITUTE OF MARINE SCIENCE

Harbour Hike

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Momentum² developed the SIMS Harbour Hike, a community event held for the first time on Fathers’ Day in 2011. The event was aimed at engaging with the public and raising awareness of SIMS’ important scientific research.

Momentum² secured and co-ordinated sponsorship, managed the event and the media outreach. Over 1800 people attended the inaugural hike which was supported by the Sydney Morning Herald. At ten checkpoints along the walk, SIMS scientists were available to respond to questions and engage with the community.

Kim McKay, Momentum² ‘s founder, was also involved in developing the public outreach and communication strategy for the organisation.
